I strongly believe that Fayette County is "the" premier county in
Georgia.  We have very high standards here, and we are very
proud of our school system, our administrators and wonderful
teachers.  But there are many issues that have been cause for
concern by myself and many parents in this community.  My three
platforms that I plan on addressing are:

Budget: Our hard earned taxpayer dollars have gone toward
needless consultant fees, for drawing redistricting lines only to
have a small group of parents redraw the lines at a town hall
meeting.  The BOE needs to call on and utilize their citizens FIRST
without spending crucial dollars on overpaid consultants.  We also
need to utilize the BOE administration to its maximum capability.
Thats what they get paid for. I promise to look at every single
expenditure before I vote to approve the budget, and frivolous
expenses will be voted down.

Physical Education and Nutrition:
I have spent many days in the Middle and High School
lunchrooms, discussing teen issues and recruiting for The Youth
Council serving Fayette County.  I have witnessed teens making
extremely bad choices in the lunch room.  Most lunches consist of
French Fries with Ranch Dressing, and a Coke. The American
Heart association says that 1/3 of Middle School Aged Children in
Georgia are obese.  High School Students are now not required to
have any physical activity or physical education during school.
Studies have shown that physical activity amongst Middle and
High School students increases metabolism, which also helps
increase grades, and test scores.  A physically active child is a
healthy child, and with some subtle changes to the Physical
Education Curriculum and local policies, we can have a healthy
and physically active school system.

Keep Public well informed on important issues and changing
Bylaws to state that "The Public and Media must be informed
and allowed to respond before the BOE votes!
I attended a meeting in February regarding the re-purposing of
East Fayette.  And without even allowing the public to view a brand
new map that wasn't even presented to the public or to the media.
The BOE voted and didn't allow the public to first give their input
before they voted. This has got to change. We cannot allow the
BOE and Administrators to make changes to the agenda in the
middle of the meeting and to vote on issues and maps that haven't
even been brought up to the public beforehand!
